It’s not unusual for a person to experience a little lack of confidence when just getting their toes wet in online gaming. Quite often the people you meet seem to know everything and don’t care to be bothered with new players.
Figuring out your way around can be frustrating. Sure, it can be hard in the beginning looking for someone to play with. When you are playing it’s like you’re always bringing up the rear. The flip side of the coin is that you’ll soon enough be doing the same to beginners, and you must be able to do that and do it without an attitude. You will most likely have to play in ways that you are not used to, but it’s fun for everyone; and also you will at times need to make some kind of sacrifice for the team effort. The blanket refusal to be a reciprocal team member will carry repercusions such as others refusing to play with you or have anything to do with you. Of course you can keep the team’s priorities first while still having a great time.
You can get great feedback simply by asking for it. Sure, if you’re using the lefty mouse and shortcuts it can be a little dicey. Do you know anyone else who is lefty, if you meet someone merely ask them if they can give you advice about it. Plus it’s always good to just ask them if they have any tips for you to improve. You’ll find that people love offering their "expert" advice and helping other people. So no need to be shy, and also when someone asks you for help don’t blow them off.
Having fun – that is what online gaming is all about. When people spend hundreds and thousands of hours creating games; they are made to be fun – serious fun. No question, if you really get into it heavily, then there are couple points to think about. For lefties… make your keyboard shortcuts, and then be sure you have a left-handed mouse. Have the willingness to accept advice and criticism – be humble and lose the attitude. Everybody will have a lot more fun when everyone gets along.
